just wondering

What do I need to do to get more people to talk to me? If you're a lurker I would love to hear from you!

Let me get the ball rolling...

Tiffany had a nifty idea in asking people about their nursing school, so here it is:

If you wouldnt mind sharing the state/country you went/go to school?

If you have a BSN, ADN, LPN (or are working towards)?

Your biggest hurdle in school?

Year you graduated/will graduate?

For those in school:
What classes do you take in your first semester, and how many days a week do you attend?

When do you start clinicals?

For those non-nursing school peeps out there...because there is life beyond nursing school...somewhere...

Do you know me?

If so, how?

If not, what brings you here?

If you wouldnt mind sharing the state/country you went/go to school?: I go to school in Washington state

If you have a BSN, ADN, LPN (or are working towards)?: Currently working towards my ADN, but will graduate with that and head straight for my BSN

Your biggest hurdle in school?: Professors who are inadequate

Year you graduated/will graduate?: 2010

For those in school:
What classes do you take in your first semester, and how many days a week do you attend?: I am taking 8 classes this semester. I go to class 5 days a week, with clinicals on Saturdays occasionally.

When do you start clinicals?: We started basic clinicals in our 4th week. They are done in a home health setting. We also have been doing a 5 hour observation weekly.

I go to school in PA. I'm in an ADN program and will graduate 12/09. My biggest hurdle is juggling family responsibilities with school work. When I'm doing school work I feel guilty about not spending more time with my kids. When I'm spending time doing house work or hanging out with family I feel guilty about not studying. My first semester was Nursing 101 (worth 8 credits). We had class 2 times per week, lab once per week, and clinical 1-2 times per week. Now in my second semester school is 3 days per week total. In my first semester we started clinical in a nursing home by our 2nd week of school.

Hi, I'm Maggie ,first year student nurse in Japan. I am also a mom of five year old girl. I do my best to be a good mom and a student as well. I'm in early 40's and I enrolled the course this April and will graduate in 2012(hopefully!). My course is a half day course and takes 4 year to graduate comparing to 3 yrs, so called in Jpn"regular course "to get RN licese in Japan. It is so interesting to know the people who work hard for the same goal! thanks for your blog! Maggie

Hey ladies!

Tiffany, I still can't believe you're taking 8 classes! I'd love to know what they are. Are they all nursing classes? It's unbelieveable how programs are so different!

PJ, Good point about juggling school and family! There have been so many times I have thought about quitting just because I feel bad about not being able to to be as "present" for my kids' needs. Keep in touch!

Maggie, Japan! Wow, I'd love to keep in touch with you! Are you going to set up a blog? If you don't mind me asking kind of a silly question, are you Japanese? I know people in the US military who are stationed in Japan, that's why I ask. I don't know if there are nursing schools available over there for Americans who are not residents of Japan? Fill me in!
