something to ponder

If you are meant to be a nurse you will do fine.

If someone said this to you, what would you think? Really. I want everyone and all to share any thoughts you might have on this statement.

I assume that this is being said to someone who is not doing so fine. If it were told to me (actually, I am pretty sure I told it to myself at one point) I would think that it's not that simple. Bad habits that make bad nursing students can be corrected, and then make an even stronger person... :)

I take it as if you are truly meant to be a nurse you will be able to take all the bad that comes with it. I have seen nurses who can't take all the hustle and bustle of nursing and realized they were not really cut out to be a nurse and went into something else.

I guessit's kind of like when people say, wow,I don't think I would do well in nursing school. The answer is, if you've developed good study habits, enjoy learning about the human body and have a passion driving you, you WILL be fine! If you love being a nurse and you feel it's your calling, you will find a way to make things work out for you and you won't let the smaller things bother you so much. But of course I'm only a student!

I had a nursing instructor who said she didnt think I was ment to be a nurse. She was wrong..... I have been a nurse for 24 yrs and many patients and coworkers have agreed along the way that I truely was ment to be a nurse. Dont let others opinions or statements guide your heart...

Well I think where there is a will there is a way. Except I don't think that everyone that is doing well in Nursing School, should be a Nurse either. Right now this early I'm not sure of those that aren't doing well should be Nurses either. Sometimes a dream is not enough!

I'm so wishy washy

Ive been told this, and it was when I was in the time of great frustration and worry. It actually made me really mad. But I suppose its true.

Hmmmm. I believe if you're meant to be a nurse and you realize that and will stop at nothing to accomplish that, then YES. If loving is your passion, then YES. It depends on what reason you go into the field for and whether or not you are determined to put your whole heart and soul into this. It's not easy- you can't just be like "I'm meant to be a nurse" and barely study, etc. I believe you have to realize the true magnitude of your calling and then YES if you are dedicated to working your butt off, learning every day for the rest of your life, and sacrificing so much to help others, you will do just fine. :)

And thanks for your comments on my blog - maybe I'm stupid but whats a sisterhood award? lol Well whatever it is, it sounds like an honor so thank you! :) (but please do share... haha)

xoxo

Well then I shouldn't be a nurse. I have NOT been fine a number of times. But I keep backing up, going around, or plowing thru.

Hmph.
